Slipknot’s Paul Gray found dead in hotel room.

Paul Gray, 38, the bass player for the metal band Slipknot, was found dead today in an Iowa hotel room. Gray is often referred to as #2 or “The Pig” because of the mask he wore while performing with Slipknot. Slipknot is probably best known for its grotesque masks, trashing sound and aggressive, dark lyrics. Slipknot released its self-titled debut in 1999, and it sold about 2 million copies.

Gray was arrested in 2003 on drug possession charges after a traffic accident, however it is not known whether Gray has used drugs in the recent past. The police say that there was no indication of foul play. An autopsy was to be performed today, but results are unknown at this time. Final results will probably take several weeks as toxicology testing will most likely be done. We’ll report on the results when they become known.
