UPDATE: Zsa Zsa Gabor back in hospital in critical condition

We reported last month how actress Zsa Zsa Gabor had been hospitalized with a hip fracture. After surgery to repair the fracture, Zsa Zsa had a rocky course with a post operative infection and had finally been discharged last week. However she was readmitted on Friday and underwent surgery on Saturday to remove two blood clots. Although initiallysaid to be resting comfortably and expected to be fully recovered in a few days, the Associated Press now reports that a spokesman for Zsa Zsa Gabor says the actress is in serious condition at a Los Angeles hospital and has received the last rites.

Blood clots, known as deep vein thromboses (DVT) are blood clots that forms in a vein deep in the body. Blood clots occur when blood thickens and clumps together. Although DVTs can occur anywhere in the body, most deep vein blood clots occur in the lower leg or thigh. We recently did a review of DVT’s in our story about Regis Philbin.
