How bad must things be going when even Lindsay Lohan is calling you out on Twitter?

Lilo is referring to former Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes.

Bynes appeared in several successful television series, such as All That and The Amanda Show, on Nickelodeon in the mid to late 1990s and early 2000s, and in 2002, she starred in the TV series, What I Like About You. She transitioned to a film career, starring in several films including What a Girl Wants (2003), Hairspray (2007), Sydney White (2007) and Easy A (2010).

But the 26-year-old has been one “hot mess” lately, with one more disturbing story after another:

On April 6, 2012, Bynes was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after side-swiping a police car in West Hollywood at 3 a.m. After she was released she sent a Tweet to the Barack Obama presidential campaign:

I don’t drink. Please fire the cop who arrested me.

On September 4, 2012, Bynes was charged with hit-and-run related to leaving the scene of two separate accidents (April 10 and August 4), without providing proper information. Two days later, the California DMV revoked her driver’s license.

Yet that didn’t stop our intrepid Amanda.

Last week TMZ released pictures of Amanda in her car smoking what appears to be a drug pipe. Although Bynes claims it there was tobacco in the pipe, her cup-holders “had remnants of what appeared to be marijuana.”

And yesterday morning she was stopped while driving her BMW in Burbank, and her car was impounded.

But there are other troublesome concerns.

According to TMZ, “several people from her gym — Equinox in West Hollywood - tell us, she has been showing increasingly alarming signs of delusional behavior. One person says Amanda came to the gym Thursday looking dazed and began speaking with herself — making comments and then answering back.”

Another gym member said that Amanda was on the elliptical, when she suddenly started “laughing hysterically for no reason.” She reportedly did this several times during the workout.

Neighbors are also concerned, saying they’ve seen her having long conversations with inanimate objects. They worry that the media may be painting her as a “garden variety pothead”, when her troubles may be much deeper.

What does Amanda have to say about these most recent reports?

In an exclusive with TMZ, Amanda adamantly states that she is “not crazy.” That the stories about her mental state “are being blown way out of proportion.” Friends who have reached out to the actress have been told to back off because “everything’s fine.”

So what is going on with Amanda Bynes? As we have no access to Amanda’s health records (and wouldn’t comment on them even if we did) we can not diagnose what is going on with her.

Does she have a mental health condition (such as schizophrenia or reactive psychosis)? Is she self-medicating herself with drugs or alcohol? I don’t know what she has, but I do know that she needs a thorough assessment.

IMO, this girl is in need of an intervention, and I hope that concerned family and/or friends will step up to get this girl the help she so desperately needs!
